The herbs we grow in our little indoor garden are doing super well, and I’ve been drying them on the drying rack I built for a few months now. But I needed a place to put them once they were dry, so I decorated a few tin canisters for storing the dried herbs with paper and Mod Podge.
Cute, huh?!
I started with some plain tin canisters that I found at Specialty Bottle. Seriously guys, if you’re looking for bottles, or jars, or tins, or vials, or jugs, or any sort of container, this is the place to go. No I’m not being paid to endorse them.
But it’s an awesome website, so if you need any sort of containers, start there.
It was really simple to do. I just cut a piece of scrapbook paper to size, put a thin layer of Mod Podge on the back of the paper, and wrapped it around the tin.
While I waited for the paper around the body of the tin to dry, I made labels for the lids. I found a big roll of magnet strips with sticky tape on one side that I thought would be perfect for this. I wrote the name of the herb onto a small rectangle of corresponding paper, cut a strip of magnet to size, peeled off the backing paper, and stuck it to the “label”. The tins are made of tin (ha!) so the magnets work perfectly on the lid.
The tins are great for storing the herbs we dried, and they’re cuter than the boring, uncovered tins! Our catnip is incredibly prolific, so that tin is already about 1/4 full, which is pretty crazy because herbs shrink to about an 1/8 of their original size when they’re dry!
From front to back the tins contain chamomile, catnip, spearmint, dill, rosemary, and basil.
What do you do with the stuff you grow in your garden? We love using some of our herbs fresh as well, but recently we’ve had SOOO much we’ve had to dry most of it!

Those cannisters are too cute! Love the paper you used! Thanks for sharing at the Pomp Party! Pinning to our Pomp Party board!
